Issue Position: Education

Issue Position

Every child is different. Every community is different.

Education should be chosen by parents to fit the needs of each child and situation and teachers, parents, and students should be able to make their own choices. They are far better able to assess the needs of a particular child than an agency far off in Washington.

I would work to end the US Department of Education and if money is given to states it should be in block grants, and not to control and manipulate the states to have a one size fits all system. 50 laboratories finding the needs of their students is far better to 500 people in Washington and a top down approach dictating how things work.

Higher Education

Government is creating a finance bubble for college education. Flooding the market with money isn't creating more educated and work force prepared people. It is creating unstable debt. It is also increasing the costs of tuition by inflating the market. Government needs to stop hurting the education market and then claiming it wants to fix it.
